Ann's Thanks You Email

Mary -

I am checking my email and I am jumping up and down right now here in St John - I am sooooo.......... excited that I won!!!

Wow - this has really made my day!!!!! Thanks for hosting the give-away!!!!

Oh!!!! I am going to post a huge thank you on my blog tomorrow!!!! I am off to a celebration dinner tonight!!!

Thanks again,
Ann

Watch her Blog tomorrow.

The Wait is Over and the Winner is....

Good afternoon,
This has been a lot of fun and a lot of work. I had 173 people who enter my give away. 163 by leaving comments, 10 by sending emails. Of those 173 entries 48 of them went the extra mile and won an extra point by posting something on their blogs. My spread sheet is 4 pages long, plus I sent an email to everyone who wrote a comment or sent an email. Of the 173 there were 13 people who left a comment that did not send me your email address, so you did not hear from me, sorry. So lesson learned, always be sure that some one has your email address.

The lucky winner, as you can see by my spreadsheet won EQ7 on her extra point, she posted something on her blog. Her name is Ann and her blog is Renegade Quilter. She is vacationing right now in St. John, US Virgin Islands, according to her blog. I don't know when she will see her email and this post but I will share with all what she has to say when I hear from her. What I did if you are interested is I gave everyone one number and then I assigned the second number to those who qualified. My thinking was the numbers would be more varied.

Here is the Random Number Generator I used showing the lucky number.

For the rest of you, I'm sorry I didn't have more copies to give away, so order quickly from Electric Quilt while the special price is still on until May 31st, but don't forget that here in the USA, the 31st is a legal Holiday, for Memorial Day.

Sunday Quilting Upate

There hasn't been a lot of sewing done this week either. We had something going on every night this week except Thursday. Plus a husband that didn't feel well. Monday night was Empty Nesters Pot Luck and lesson. We didn't go because Richard didn't feel well and I could have gone but it had rained all day and all day I kept thinking what a great day this would have been to stay home all day. So I was glad to stay in. Tuesday was visiting teaching, I have three ladies from church I visit every month, as a friend and helper if needed. Wednesday was a Genealogy class. Thursday was our night at home. Friday a dinner party and last night a party. Plus yesterday there were errands and chores. Today I had the missionaries in for dinner. The week just flew by. I'm sure you know how that goes. Why is it that some weeks absolutely nothing is going on and others its crazy with activity?

I did manage to finish quilting the Give Away Wall hanging and today I finished the binding. The label is on and I will mail it tomorrow to the lucky winner. Right now I need to go to bed and get ready for Monday and work.

The Winner is....

Drum roll please....
Number 22.
That lucky number is Colleen's new lucky number.

Congratulations Colleen!! I have also sent you an email notifying you of your win. The quilt still needs a little work, just some quilting, binding and a label. So I will send it to you when it is finished. Here it is as it looks now.

I also want to thank everyone who entered the contest and it sure was nice to meet some new friends and to be revisited by old friends. Sorry you all couldn't win a quilt.

Sunday Quilting Upate

First I have a funny story for you. I made my Christmas valences and curtains in 2006 because we had a floor in the house and the floors were not done until the week before Christmas, so to help dress up the house I made valance and curtains. Yesterday while ironing the one for the living room I noticed something. I'm sure the picture will help you see what I finally noticed on the 4th Christmas I have used them. The other three sets are fine. Luckily this one hangs over the Christmas tree and no one will notice. Heck it took me four years to notice and I made them. I guess I focused on making sure all three panel went the same direction, that I didn't notice which end I put the top rod pocket.

I don't know about you but sometimes I get a little ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder. Or is it RQS Restless Quilt Syndrome. It's not like I don't have enough things to work on that I need to work on now. Like Krystal's Horse for Christmas, the Give Away wall hanging, my DJ Christmas Quilt. But last night I had the urge to do some mindless work. I did the prep work for two parts of my Washington Medallion Quilt. I just did the sewing on the triangle on a roll paper. I didn't feel like cutting them or making the blocks but just sewing on the lines. So I did both parts. At least now I don't feel so far behind.

My Dear Jane Christmas Quilt has four side borders to quilt. I finished quilting from top to bottom and had turned the quilt to do the side borders. I finished the side triangles and started one of the borders and my machine started to make a lot of noise. That was Friday night. I thought well it's time to quit for today and I'll clean it, re-thread it, oil it and try again in the morning. No improvement in the noise. So I took the quilt off the frame, the one pole off and the machine off and took it to the machine hospital. I hope to have it back by the end of the week. I was so ready to be done with the quilting on that thing. Here it is just before I turned it.

I also made 3 nine inch blocks as a surprise for a friend, its a group surprise. I can't say anymore. I don't want to spill the beans.

Here is the picture you are waiting for, the center of the Anniversary Give-away quilt. It isn't finished yet, but close. I just need to cut some triangles and join those top two rows together. I'm liking how it looks I hope you do also. Be sure to see the post from Nov 26th to see how this could be yours.

Night for now, take care.

Anniversary Give Away

A few weeks ago I mentioned a Give away to celebrate the one year anniversary of my blog. I was originally thinking I would buy something and give it away but that feels so impersonal. So instead I have decided to make a small wall hanging for Christmas. I just decided this yesterday so it isn't ready yet. I have drafted it in EQ6 so you can have an idea. If you think it looks a lot like my Dear Jane Christmas Quilt you are right. I even have some of that lovely border fabric left. I'll mail it to the lucky winner as soon as it is finished.

Here it is as of 11.29.09, well on it's way. I will update the picture as it is completed.

So here are the rules:
Look at the list of give away activities below and decide how many activities you want to do. Then add up the points after you've done them, and then email me the information below to enter this give away. Your name is entered for leaving a comment and for each five points you earn I'll place your name in the drawing for the little quilt. That gives you up to four chances to win.

The giveaway will END on Saturday, December 5th at Midnight.
I will then pick a WINNER on Sunday December 6th in the early afternoon.

Now to go make my spread sheet to keep track of all your points. I better print those paper piecing patterns for those blocks also and get sewing.
Well Good Luck and Have Fun!

Anyway take a minute or two to check out her blog and her giveaway. She has a great tutorial at Moda Bake Shop on how to make this little gift bag. I might have to make one to take to my Quilt Get-A-Way in Sept to put my door prize in.

30 Fat Quarters Give Away

I was looking at Colleen's blog that I follow once in awhile. She had a link to this give away at Pig Tales & Quilts. So I'm posting a link and a comment on her blog.

Now all those who know me, know I don't need any more fabric. So why would I want to participate in this give away. Well it's not for me. I'm going to ask for Red, White and Blue fabrics, because I was looking at the Quilts of Valor project and I thought I really would like to make a quilt for this project and donate it. I have a future son-in-law, well I hope he will be anyway, who severed in Afghanistan & a nephew who is in Iraq now. My bother was in the Navy, he was accepted to the Naval academy two days before his draft notice for the Vietnam War came. My Mom was an army nurse during WWII, she would never talk about it other than she was on the Philippines. My Mom died when I was 16, so I never heard the story of her army days other than she severed and it was hard. She didn't want me to go into the army or to be a nurse. She got the first wish but not the second one. And I never regret my decision to become a nurse, even if it was hard to be one sometimes. So anyway I digress.

So as a support to the family who have severed in the armed forces I thought I would make a quick quilt and send it off.

If you are interested in the give away or the QOV check it out!

Also Happy Easter!!
