Gratitude # 9

I am grateful for technology. I really like such things as electricity and running hot and cold water. Cars are another thing I like.  I like being able to get in one and go where I want to go.  It also allows you to be with friends and see wonderful sights of this beautiful world we live on.

I also really like computers and the Internet. It was fun to use instant messaging with my cousin in England. It is grand fun to meet her and other cousins because of a website like Ancestry. It is exciting fun to find census records and stuff on line.

I use Skype to teach a friend in Miami Florida to use Electric Quilt software.  Plus we visit and talk.  Sometimes we do more talking than teaching and learning.  We show each other what quilting projects we are working on.  It is so much more fun than pictures.  It is wonderful to receive an email within minutes instead of waiting weeks for letters to go back and forth. Though I do miss letters in the mail box.

I do like these modern things a lot.  They have also helped me work on my genealogy and my quilting my two favorite pass times.  It sure sounds like a win - win to me.

Quilting Update

After another busy week of work, coming home tired almost everyday, stress is a bummer. I did manage to find time to sew two blocks, these blocks are 6" finished.
I'm still spending a lot of time at the computer organizing files, I scanned in 50 plus pictures and documents on the last Sunday of February and I'm still labeling them all. I would recommend scan a few then label. I'm also spending time doing web searches and indexing on Family Search. Plus a viewing, a funeral, out of town cousins, dinner with them, breakfast with them, which was just great. Man I'm making myself tired again.

I was able to find some time to do some stitching on the big Christmas project, Will's stocking, I do that while watching my new favorite shows, The Generations Project on BYU and Who Do You Think You Are?, it's on one of the big 3, I think it's NBC. I tried to take a picture of this last night but the battery was dead in the camera. I was a little surprised it was dead, I hadn't used it that much and it is a new camera with a new battery. I'll have to watch it.

Well it's time to go to work. Have a good day!

My Genealogy Blog

I'm not sure how many of you are also into Genealogy but I'm starting to get there. This Arizona Family Expo I went to over the weekend really has be all excited again. It has given me something new to learn and work on. Which is a good thing. I have created my own Genealogy blog called me and my ancestors. Check it out if you would like, here. I also placed it on the side arm under Genealogy links.

It is just getting started and I'm sure it will be changing weekly. As I work on finding more out about my family.

Week Three Personal Goal

It has been a hard week. It has been stressful at work and I'm a stress eater. Not a good combination. Even with that I only went 200 to 250 calories over my calories allotment most days, not every day. But those extra calories add up. I did journal every day what I ate so I knew what I was doing. Now to get control of that bad habit. I did keep up with my core exercises and my stair climbing. I made close to 6,000 or over 6,000 steps every day. Well a couple of days my pocket pedometer reset to 0000000 so I'm not sure on the exact of steps I took. I'm going to put it in a plastic sleeve to prevent it from reset it. I just came up with that idea. I did lose 1 pound.

I have spent all day at the Arizona Family History Expo, boy did I learned a lot and now I need to do the things I learned. I have to go look and decide what classes I will attend tomorrow. I stayed for the Banquet dinner and we had a live Genealogy Gem Podcast. It was really fun to be envolved with the first live podcast. It was very informative and fun.

No Man Cave update tomorrow, it has been raining all week and we even had tornado warnings last night. Northern AZ had 12 feet of snow. Out backyard is flooded and more rain is coming. I sure hope this rain fills up all our lakes. It sure feels like winter here this week.
