Pre-Christmas: My Christmas Quilts

The Christmas decorations are not complete until Christmas quilts are up. This year there were little late getting up because I wasn't feeling well and we were very busy with the Nutcracker. Most of the quilts were up by the fifth or sixth of December and the last few small ones were up by the 12th.

Here is a link to another blog post called How Many Christmas Quilts Do You Have? This doesn't include all my quilts so I will add those pictures to this post.
I am sure you have seen these quilts one time or another on my blog over the years. I felt like sharing them again.

 Machine appliqued Angel.

My Believe in Santa, I gave this away one year, also machined appliqued.

 My Christmas Charm, machine appliqued.

My Dear Jane Swap Christmas Quilt. I forget how many blocks I made for the swap.  I made a couple of extra to make the layout I wanted.  This quilt was in the AQG show and the judges liked how I did my corners, that it followed the line layout.  They thought it needed more quilting but I didn't agree.  My first attempt at free motion feathers. They are definitely free motion.

I made two of these also, I gave one to my big daughter and put Halloween fabric on the back.  She loves Halloween.  When we were at her home for Thanksgiving she proudly showed me she has the quilt on the wall with the Halloween side out.  I told her to turn it around for Christmas so she can use it all year long.

This was a kit I purchased in Colorado one year when I was there with my job.  I loved the fabrics.  He is on the same hanger as the Santa quilt and he is straight I just hold the camera crocked.

This is a winter quilt and I leave it up until February, the others come down.  It was also a class sample for 9 Patch Pizzazz.

And last but not least is my Stick Santa made this year. I finally brought him home from the quilt shop.  He was a class sample but no one took the class, but he did sell patterns.

I hoped you enjoyed the Christmas Quilt show.

Have a Merry Christmas and please remember the real reason we celebrate the season.

I guess I have been because I have been tearing up a lot when I hear Holy Christmas songs and see some of the videos made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Updates for Man Cave and Quilting

I am not sure where the time is going but it is going fast.  I have been busy reorganizing computer files and photos as well as drawers and stuff.  Not a lot at a time but just small amounts of time here and there.  It still takes a lot of time.  The goal is to empty the download folders when I finish name the pictures.  I emptied 60 folders of pictures I took during 2010.  Most folders had a few photos in them like about 6 or so.  So once I get the couple I want to upload to this blog post I am moving them into the correct folders.

I have also been busy catching up on my genealogy reading and trying to decide what classes I will be taking this Friday & Saturday at the Family History Expo here in Mesa.  I am a blogger of honor so I will be posting about the classes I attend and the thing I learn over on my Genealogy Blog.  It will be fun to meet some of the bloggers I have meet on-line in person.

My Moon Santa

I did manage to find some time for sewing on last Sunday, this just past Saturday and yesterday.  I quilted my Moon Santa and I have the binding almost finished, you can see where my binding clips are on the last side of the binding.  I did more quilting on this them on the one I gave as prize.  I free motion quilted around the word Believe and I did straight stitching across the piano key trim.  If you double click on the picture you should be able to see a larger version.  I like it.

Richard working at night

Richard has also been busy working on his man cave.  The inside is finished except for the painting.  He will wait to do that until it is all done.  He has started adding the frame on the out side for the siding.  Tonight was pretty mild so he decided to work on it this evening after work.  He has his big portable spotlight set up.  I even had to go out and help him hold that bottom board straight for him until he had it nailed down.

Happy Stitching!

Updates on Man Cave & Quilting

Walls are almost done!
Mr. B. had five days off for Christmas last week and on Wednesday, Thursday and part of Friday he worked on his "Man Cave".   He made good progress and all the four walls are covered, except for maybe a little area by the floor.  Here is the latest picture.  It is surprising how much time it takes to measure and cut those boards to fit.

My Moon Santa

After I finished the Believe or Moon Santa for my blog give away on Christmas morning, I started on my copy.  I still have some embroidery to do finish and trim to add.  The machine applique is all completed.

Christmas Charm quilt waiting to be basted.
While looking and updating some of my side bar boxes the other day I realized that the Christmas Charm quilt was one of my goals to finish for this years, so I took it off the design wall and added the two side borders and the bottom triangle.  It is now spread out on my cutting table and ready to base.  I am going to work on this as soon as I finish my blog posts.

Blogiversary Give Away Update

About 9 AM this morning, Christmas, I put the final stitches in the binding.  Applied the label and took some pictures.  It will be in the mail tomorrow to the winner, Colleen.
Here is a close up of his face.

Here is the label!

I decided Moon Santa should reside over Christmas here at my home for the day.  Why should he send this great day in a mailing envelope.

I have to go make brunch for the whole family that are coming shortly!
Merry Christmas!
