Stocking #1 Week 4

It did see to take forever to get stitching done this week. It was a busy week and the great-niece I am making this for was married last Saturday. So lots of excitement.

I finished all the snowflakes under the vine type line, the dog and I am still working on the snowman. I did get new glasses this week and it seems I can see better. I am going to check out a new magnifying glasses. Mine has lots of scratches on it and it only has one magnification, I might want two.

I didn't realize it until I started the snowman, but I am off one row, a row too short. But then as I was counting the lines between the vine type line and the top of the snowman I had one too many spaces there. But since everything is almost completely stitched I am not going to worry about it. I am not sure where the mistake it, but I don't think anyone will notice when it is all finished. Frustrating but not the end of the world and I am not picking all those elements out and starting over.

My two adopted daughters had fun at their oldest sister's wedding as bridesmaids. There other big sister was also here from Californa.
The first three gals are all sisters. The first one lives in California and the next two are mine. The fourth one is a friend of the bride.

Biggest sister and her husband. I am working on his stocking now.

My oldest daughter with my two little ones.
Who aren't so little anymore.
Aren't they all beautiful!

Valentine Day Cards

So the other project that kept me from making more progress on the Christmas stocking was Valentine Day cards.
I didn't make a lot just some for some very special people.

First I made a basket card and since I had to mail this one it was finished first and sent off.

They do fold flat to mail.

Here are the other three baskets I made. One each for my girls and one for a friend.

Of Course, I made one for my hubby.
I made a different card for Richard.  This is the front of his card.

The back.

The inside.

In this link, you can see the video and see the card open.
The die for this card only arrived this afternoon so I had to present it to my hubby after dinner because I didn't have enough time to finish it before dinner.

Each person was happy with the card they received and thought their card was the best.
Works for me.

Happy Card Making!

Stocking Number 1 Week 3

Well, I didn't get a lot done this week but I did get some done which is better than none!

I finished one of the critters on the bottom and I spent way too many hours trying to make the snowflake between the wiggly line. The pattern called for this Lazy Daisy Cross stitch. I could not get it to work to my satisfaction. I remade it many times. I tried with the cross in the center and without the cross.

No matter how many times I tried one of the pedals always came out skinny and deformed.

So I made my own snowflake.

Originally I was to use one-ply floss which didn't show very well, so I tried seeing how it would look in 2 ply and or in a color of red or green. I and the bride decided on white. It shows up better as 2 ply.

Isn't the kitty cute!

I was also busy with another project. I will show you that in the next post.

Happy Stitching!

Stocking Number 1 Week 2

I did find a good amount of time to stitch this week.
I can see the progress I have made and the starting of the shape of the toe part of the stocking.

Close up of stocking. The show on the left didn't end where it should have. I recounted and took out part of it twice. So I have to check it out today with fresh eyes. I was doing that last night at about 8 PM. Eyes are tired by that time of the day.

I have some card making to do this week,
so I won't get as much done for next week.

Happy Stitching!

Stocking Number 1 Mistake

So, Saturday evening I was stitching away and I had almost completed the second tree trunk when I noticed my stitches were not lined up correctly.
Yup, I had got almost to the bottom going both directions.

Ask me if I was a happy camper?
Here is a close up with an arrow to help you see my mistake.
I never found it as I unstitched.

I double-checked the top to make sure I was OK on that end, guess what I was off there also.
The green branch is correct, and I triple checked that! And the first couple of stitches of the trunk were also.

I restitched it except for the very end. I wanted to double-check it in the morning when my eyes were fresher.
I also realized my phone can help me magnify and area
to double-check my work.

Here we are all fixed and lined up. What a relief!
