How to Always Have Your Signature

When I was reading Karen's Blog post about adding a signature, she mentioned that she just adds it each time she posts.  That does work but I going to show you how to add it to your settings and save it there so it automatically appears in the new blog post.  Now I will admit there is a little HTML involved, but you don't have to write it you only have to copy and paste it.  If you have been using computers for any length of time you know how to copy and past. 

See my picture below?  It was added by clicking on the picture icon above and inserting it.  I saved it as a .jpg file first.

Double Clicking will take you to a larger picture

 If you look closely you will notice on the left you are on the tab called compose, next to it is the tab HTML.  Click on that tab and you will see the code for the picture.  Now the best time to do that is when you haven't added any text or other pictures.  If you wait until you have other text and pictures you will have a hard time finding the code for that picture. 

My screen shot below shows the HTML code for my signature only.  Taken before I added the other picture and text. 

You just highlight all that text and copy it.  That is easy, you can go back to the compose tab.  You can go ahead and leave that page, save your draft before you leave.  Click on the name of your blog up on the top left, this will take you to the Set Up page or what used to be known as the dashboard of your blog.  Down the left hand side click on settings, than Posts and Comments.  On the window that opens click on Post Template in the block paste your HTML code you just copied into the box.  Be sure to save the settings!!

OK that wasn't so painful was it?  Now every time you start a new post your signature will automatically appear on your post.

What is in a Name?
Dawn over at As Sweet as Cinnamon is asking how did you name your blog.  Naming a blog is very personal and I have seen some I really like and some are so simple but great.  Some are very clever and I am not all that clever. 

I named mine after my Web Shot Album, which was the first online thing I did that required a name.  So I wanted to keep the same name.  How did I come to mequilter.  Well my initial as M. E. for Mary Elizabeth, I frequently sign notes me.  So it just seemed natural to me to use mequilter.

Maybe we have too many me's around here. 

While thinking about this post I was thinking maybe the title should be M. E. Quilter but I am accustom to it being run together.  So that is how it will stay for today.

 My blog is about me, my quilting, my family, and whatever else I happen to be into.  It has been fun and I have enjoyed all the friends I have made. 

Here is a picture of a little Halloween quilt I made, just because I believe every post should have a picture or two in it.

I sign my blog Mary Mary because that has been my nick name for a long time, way back when a TV show said the name twice, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman.  Well that was my name and everyone took it in vain but they got tired of saying the full name twice so it was shorten to Mary Mary.

New Feature on Blogger

Blogger has added a new feature, just above this post you will notice a couple of links, one is Home, which is my main page and one is My First Quilts which is another page. You can make up to 10 pages. I will be adding more as time permits. I'm hoping to add some EQ6 tutorials and who knows what else. Enjoy!

You will find pages to add on the Posting tab where you add a new post, two tabs to the right, it is called Edit Pages. You can add pictures and all. The only thing I didn't find is spell check.

I'm playing with my blog and decorating it for Halloween. Now to decorate my house! I'll have to take pictures of all my Halloween quits. I don't have as many of them as I do Christmas quilts but I have more then enough.

Blogging Fun

OK I think I have this figured out. I'm sure there is an easier way to do this but this is what I have done.
1. I captured a screen shot of my new blog color
2. Edited it in Picasa, added signature, cropped, saved as a .jpg file
3. Blog This from Picasa to my blog.
4. Copied the script and saved it under settings.
5. Posted.

Now if this all works out right it should automatically come to my post with every post. I do think the signature is a little too big but I want to go sew now. I'll play with my blog more later. I mean there are more things in life than a blog.

Blogging Fun

Well July is over and I found some new background that I like but it leaves my signature with a white square around it. How do I solve that? It will have to wait until tomorrow. Now it is time to go to bed.

I did it!

Now it is blue!! It took a little thinking but I did it. I had a nice time visiting with friends for lunch. They are all old co-workers. Two are retired now, the rest of us are still working!

New Signature

I'm trying to embed my signature in my post so I don't have to add it every time, which I obviously forget to do. Now if I can just figure out how to change the color to blue, I'll be very happy. I did do it in blue but couldn't save it in the right file extension. I guess I have to do some more playing. But first I need to go to lunch with some friends.

30 Fat Quarters Give Away

I was looking at Colleen's blog that I follow once in awhile. She had a link to this give away at Pig Tales & Quilts. So I'm posting a link and a comment on her blog.

Now all those who know me, know I don't need any more fabric. So why would I want to participate in this give away. Well it's not for me. I'm going to ask for Red, White and Blue fabrics, because I was looking at the Quilts of Valor project and I thought I really would like to make a quilt for this project and donate it. I have a future son-in-law, well I hope he will be anyway, who severed in Afghanistan & a nephew who is in Iraq now. My bother was in the Navy, he was accepted to the Naval academy two days before his draft notice for the Vietnam War came. My Mom was an army nurse during WWII, she would never talk about it other than she was on the Philippines. My Mom died when I was 16, so I never heard the story of her army days other than she severed and it was hard. She didn't want me to go into the army or to be a nurse. She got the first wish but not the second one. And I never regret my decision to become a nurse, even if it was hard to be one sometimes. So anyway I digress.

So as a support to the family who have severed in the armed forces I thought I would make a quick quilt and send it off.

A great find!

While checking out a blog of one of my friends I noticed her background and I liked it a lot. So I looked to see where it came from and it comes from Delightful Dots. So I went and checked them out. I Learned something new tonight.

I love learning even little things are fun. If you click on my signature it is a link to the site where I made my signature. My friend Jan taught me that! Way to go Jan. She has a really cool signature on her page at the Hartman's in Gilbert.
Guess since it is now midnight, I really learned this trick, last night. I'm on call again and I was just paged, so now that the work is done, I'm playing on my blog. I guess I should go to bed since I have tons to do tomorrow, the Last Saturday before Christmas.

New Signature

I finally did it I found a way to add my signature the way I like, without a frame around it and with a clear background so my page background show. I found it on My Live Signature, http://www.mylivesignature.com/. This was much easier than the other two options I had tried. One I did four times and was getting an error message every time I changed the code. I still have to paste the code every time I post but that is OK. I found the link to Live Signature from a blog called Moms Who Blog, http://momswhoblog.blogspot.com/. She has lots of interesting articles on how to tips for bloggers. I see lots I want to learn but I can't do it in a day or a week so I have to pace myself.
Friday and Saturday I added some new gadgets to my right side. One is fun links to a site that has links to a lot of free quilt patterns. Check her blog out http://with-heart-and-hands.blogspot.com/. I also added pictures of the books I have been reading. I added Christmas Bling at the bottom.
I have spent so much time checking out blogs. It is fun to see each person creativity. Well I must go do other things.

Up in the Middle of the Night

Why am I up? I'm on call tonight for work and had a page. I can never go right back to sleep so I'm playing on my Blog. I have added my Christmas background. I must have tried four before I found one I like. Plus I decided I had to change my template to make it look better. Plus I have added a signature. My test signature has a box around it, which I don't like but it will do for now. I'll have to work on it more another day. Well it's time to go back to bed. Night all!

Having fun on my Blog

OK I can tell this can become very addictive. Today I added a couple of links with the help of my friend Jan. That was while I was at work this morning. I usually work hard, but today was very quiet so I had some fun. After work I added a slide shows of the Thanksgiving day pictures and added a site meter. I just found a error in my header so I have to go fix that. This is fun.
It is also fun to see blogs of other friends and co-workers that I found today. Boy can you spend time looking and reading. It sure is a nice way to get to know people better.
Richard just came home from work and he is impressed with my blog.
