More Happenings

We had another Birthday!

I figured this was the last year I could get away with a
Minnie gift Bag.  So I went for it.

This is Little Bit and she is now in the double digit, age 10.

She is very expressive and makes the cutest faces.
Her face is full of joy and happiness most of the time.

She wanted a new dress for her birthday.  The day before she kept asking me to see her new dress.  I said, "No, it needs to be a surprise."  She wasn't happy with that.  But on her birthday she was glad she had waited for the surprise.

She also has a new bed set.  In pink her favorite color.

She decorated her cake also.  She is doing her I blew out all the candles dance here.

Yup that is Little Bit being herself!

She has 35 kids in her class.  Next year will be the last year I have to buy cup cakes for her.  I almost didn't get them to school on time.  Just made it by the skin of my teeth.

I love this little munchkin so much.  She is so affectionate.
She is also creative and always thinks of fun things to do.

Some Happenings

We had a Birthday!

A Special Young Lady turned 12!
This is Bigger Bit!

She is so pretty but doesn't know it.  She worries about will people like me if I have scars, I am like thinking who doesn't like you and who doesn't have scars.  I reminder her that what is in side is more important than what is on the outside. I wish she could see herself as others see her.  Sweet, caring, helpful, thoughtful and smart.
I love when she talks to me about the boys who like her at school.  She is smart, they ask to date her and she just says I am too young, but we can be friends and talk at school.
I guess dating at this age is holding hands at school.  She rather play soccer and I am very happy with that.

I actually got her to wear this shirt once.  It has a little too much bling on it for her.  She likes her cloths simple.

I got her Teal nail polish her favorite color.

A new bed set, she picked it out and had forgotten.
It is really cute.  I can't pick out things for her, our tastes are so different.

Later with her cake she decorated and made.

A couple of days later we went out to dinner with the our big adult daughter for her birthday.  I love this shirt on her but she doesn't like it.  It is too girly. It is from a grandmother.

I just love this little munchkin who wants to be taller than I am.

A week of Finishes!

Mystical Horses finished 11.14.2010
I like it when I can say it is finished and I can hang it on the wall.  Here are the pictures for proof.
After almost three years it is finished.  I designed it in 2007, maybe earlier in EQ6.  I started sewing it in Aug of 2007.  I had this beautiful Laurel Burch fabric and didn't want to cut the large prints so I came up with this design.
Now it is on my wall hanging in the place of honor in my home.  I am doing the happy dance here!

All Done

Here is Be Thankful also done and on the wall for Thanksgiving.

Great Niece Holly

I do other things besides quilting, like take my great niece out to lunch for her birthday, she is now 12. She really enjoyed having her first Birthday lunch with Aunt Mary. I have taken her two older sisters out for a lot of years, now it is her turn. We came back to my house and she had fun taking the eggs out of our chicken coop.

Happy Birthday James
Later in the afternoon we went to Holly's nephew's first birthday party, here he is with his first cake.  He was a blue man by the time he finished.

Back From Vacation

We made it back from vacation last night about 8 PM when we arrived at our door. We had a wonderful time during our 10 day stay in Florida. We started in Miami to visit my friend Linda for her Birthday. She was the hostess with the mostest and definitely runs a 5 star hotel.
She liked her main birthday gift which is pictures here. I finally finished the night before I left Miami to come home and here she is loving it!

Notice the color of the fabric now, that is more accurate then when I take it's picture by itself.

I'll post more pictures later, it's now time to go grocery shopping and all.

Serendipity!

I had to chuckle when I posted my new post last night, the quote for the day changed to the following.
"It is not how old you are, but how you are old."
Jules Renard
It reminds me of another quote I have in a little book of quotes I have keep for years.
Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.
People grow old only by deserting their ideas.
Years may wrinkle your skin but to give up interest wrinkles the soul.
Gen Douglas MacArthur

Have a great day! And enjoy life.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well I want to thank all my friends and especially my husband for making my Birthday a special day. One of my friends sent me a surprise gift to work, the delivery person was another friend from work. The surprise gift was Ghiradelli's dark chocolate squares with raspberries in the center. Very Very Very GOOD!!, some Linder raspberry truffles, and a Cold Stone Cookies & Cream ice cream cakes. Some of the other gifts I received were potpourri, a picture frame holder, a guardian angel pin, a pink rose, a CD of women’s' songs from church. I received a ton of email greetings with fun wishes included, many phone messages and calls.
A dear friend took me out to dinner on Wednesday evening and we had a delightful time visiting and sharing our thoughts and feelings.

Of course I made some of my own fun also, I wore my Birthday pins.

The funniest part was my sweet husband brought me flowers and a balloon. The balloon plays music, the song is How Sweet it is. My honey out did himself. We also went to Outback Steak House for dinner. I'm very full and content.

Boy Have I Been Busy

Busy doing what I'm not sure. No I know. Besides sewing I prepared a talk for church over the last two weeks and gave it on Sunday. It went very well and my husband did a great job also, even if I didn't leave him enough time. I was tired after church and after dinner I just sat and watched a movie, PS I Love You and I cried through most of it. So I didn't do my usual Sunday Night update. I was too drained.

I did some sewing last week not my usual wild flurry of activity. I made six Square in a Square blocks. After seeing the demo the weekend before I just had to try it. I'm using some my stash. I think I'm just going to make a sampler of these blocks. I also sewed one more strip of wedges for my One Block Wonder but didn't add it to the other part.

I did some more quilting on my Mystery Quilt and marked the last row of blocks, so I'm ready to start making more feathers. They are improving but they still have a long way to go. See the bottom borders are starting to show.
Friday Night I started a new class from QuiltUniversity.Com, called Math for Quilters. I have already learned a few good pointers and I'm sure I will learn more. It has a good review of fractions, decimals, ration & proportion.

I went out to lunch with my friend Christina and started celebrating my Birthday which is on the 12th. Christina and I had a great visit, we went to Olive Garden, soup, bread sticks and salad, very good company & food.
Last night I took my two great nieces out for dinner, Amy & Heather. We have been going out to eat for our birthdays for about 7 years now. Amy's is in January, Heather's is the 5th of Feb & mine is the 12th. We had a grand time and they both talked about the previous times we went out to eat. I enjoy these two girls. I use to teach them how to quilt and they told me last night they both still have their quilts. I was so bummed when I got home I realized I forgot to get a picture of us all together. And I carried my camera around with me all day to do that. You can see pictures of this adorable girls on my webshots link on the right, look for sewing with Amy & Heather. Also my Thanksgiving slideshow has recent pictures of them.
I'm also reading These Is My Words by Nancy Turner, it is about an AZ women pioneer. Very interesting and the trials she had are hard. Talk about hard work every day, Indians and all kinds of stuff. I am enjoying the story.

Richard's Birthday

Today is my sweet husband's birthday. We went out to eat last night to celebrate. Our son Kinsen treated us to dinner. It was a nice time had by all. Today the other kids have called to wish him Happy Birthday. Krystal our daugther-in-law even sang him the birthday song, which is what he always does to each of us.
Here is Kinsen our youngest.

Happy Birthday Honey!!
