My EQ 7 Heart

This is my first  attempt at drawing a free style heart with the brush tool. I did draw an oval heart first and convert it to a guide to have an outline to follow.  I also used my shape tool to make it have a better shape.  Not bad.

Here is version 2 with a wider and bolder brush stroke.  I can see a few more versions of this coming.  I also thought of another way to draw this when I saw another heart motif today.  I am sure I will share more later.

I think the first one is two thin and the second one to fat.

I decorated my EQ 7 Tree

I had some time this evening so I decided to decorate my Christmas tree I drew the other night.  Here are my results.

I used the Brush Tool to draw the garland, I used the oval to make the ornaments and the light bulb and the shape tool to change the shape to look more like a Christmas tree light bulb.  I used the Polygon to draw the base of the light bulb.

I am pleased with how it turned out!  Plus it was fun!!!

What I drew in EQ7

I drew this tree!
Last night I wasn't able to sleep and and I have been reading and practiceing the lessons from the book,  Applique Drawing written by Angie Padilla for EQ6.  All of the techniques in there can be used with EQ7.  So no sense tossing and turning I got up out of bed and drew this lovely Christmas tree.  I might put some garland on it tonight.

I have to admitt I have had the book since it was published but I have used it more recently.  I guess teaching my EQ7 club every month makes me want to keep ahead of the students.

See what a little practice will result in!!

Guess what I just checked the Electric Quilt site and the book is on sale for 50%.  I recommend it.

No Sewing Room

Well the room is still there it is just all packed up.  We are in the I hope the middle of our chaos and remodeling job.  The popcorn ceiling is all gone, the old carpet is gone, the old tub is gone, the old linoleum in the bathroom is gone.  The new carpet is not here and is on back order, the new tub is still in a box in the garage.  And we are having a little domino effect and have decided to remove the old counter and bathroom vanity.

So what does a girl do when the sewing room is empty, she plays on the computer and in EQ7.  I have been learning some applique drawing techniques and I have drawn some paper pieced blocks.  I also made a crossword puzzel for my monthly club meeting.  I thought it might be a fun activity to do at our next club meeting on the 5th.

The Clues

I made the puzzle on this free puzzle site

I have also been doing some hand sewing, I have made more small yo-yos for the Yo-Yo quilt and have appliqued some of the large center yo-yos onto the back ground.

What my sewing room is reduced to

Happy Stitching!

Way too Late

to be writing a blog post. So this will be quick.
We had a wonderful vacation in Miami Florida to celebrate our 20th Anniversary.  Here is a shot of one of my favorite places in Miami.
Key Biscayne Lighthouse.

We decided to remove the popcorn ceiling in our four bedrooms and replace the carpet, which is over 20 years old.  It was in the house when we purchased it and we have been here 19 years.  One of those four bedrooms is my sewing room.  Most of the stuff is going out into the garage, but I didn't want my fabric in the garage.

Fabric bins in the family room
Here is most of the fabric bins behind my husbands recliner in the family room.  They can't be seen from the front room but the rest of them may end up in the front room, it isn't forever.

While on vacation I took my fabric to make more Yo-Yos for the quilt by the same name.  Tonight I made the last big center Yo-Yo.  So 81 centers are completed and tacked down to all the backgorund blocks. Seeing how my sewing machine is packed this will be a wonderful hand project to work on.

All Center Yo-Yos are tacked on!
I also managed to teach two EQ 7 classes, one in Miami to my friend Linda and a few of her friends.  One here to several of my quilting buddies.  I do keep busy don't I.

So that is the latest and greatest from my house, I hope all is well at your house!!
