Several months ago I was asked to be a guest writer for the new EQ blog.  Well here it is!  It tickles me to be called a Guru.  I am in with some good company!  Check out the sites of the other Gurus.  Have fun and learn some new tricks.

More Sewing Over the Weekend

Well once I get on a role I really get on one.  Saturday afternoon I did some cleaning in my sewing room and then I pin basted It's All About the Boots.
Boots Basted

After it was basted I began quilting around the boots.  I quilted it on Saturday and Sunday.  I thought echo quilting around the boots would be a good idea.  I did the right side and so far so good.

Then I started the left side and did three passes and then I noticed that the lines at the top weren't going the same way.   The right side I followed the design starting at the top, the left side I started at the bottom which made my path a little different at the top.  But I am leaving it, no one will probably notice.

Batik Twster is Done

Just before Labor Day weekend I had a cold, it was a mild cold but it turned into a horrible cough.  My cough was so bad it took two visits to the doctor an inhaler, steroids and an antibiotic to get me to cough only a little bit.  I was coughing so hard and so often, I was rattling my brains and almost fractured some ribs.  Well not really, it just felt that way.
So for all that time I cancelled all my social engagements during that time until last Wednesday.  I only missed one day of work but I felt I needed to rest and not wear myself out.  I missed some fun things, dinner with friends twice, a scrapbooking day, empty nesters and I forgot what else.  Oh well one must try to take care of themselves.
I did lots of reading during that time to keep me from being active.  Thanks to a friend whose Mom gave me 8 of Jennifer Chiaverini Elm Creek Quilt books and I found a few used copies to flush out the series.  I am reading number 14 now.  I have enjoyed reading them again and some for the first time.  What enjoyable stories.
A couple of times I sat at my machine and quilted for about 30 minutes.  So it took me several evenings to quilt this little 23" square hanging and sew on the binding by machine and them by hand.  The best part is it is hanging.

I used a pastel variegated thread for the center and a shade of blue for the outer border that you can't hardly see the thread.

I made it to cover a bathroom window

This window face a very bright street light and I like total darkness when I sleep, this is the master bath.  I don't have to worry about light coming in any more.
I Like It

I picked the colors to go with my shower curtain and the bath mats.  Now on to the next project.

Happy Stitching!
