Quilting Update

Somehow I ran out of time to post last Sunday and the rest of the week was just as bad.  Also having a cold didn't help. Thanks Heavens my cold is getting better.  But I am wondering how I will survive work all day tomorrow after taking a nap everyday for 5 days.  Today I took sometime to update my side bar and slide show at the bottom of my page.

Last weekend I finished my Moon Santa and he safe away until next year.  I am not posting another picture.  So far this year I finished two small quilts.

On the side bar you will find one box with the Quilts I hope to finish this year or finish the tops.  In another box I have the quilts listed I have finished this year, so far.  I am not making big plans for quilting since Genealogy is still taking up a lot of my time as well as that full time job.

Since I was home and taking it slow I have been doing some hand work.  I finished 3 more Blue Work Dear Jane blocks, for a total of 6.  The blocks were already prepared to embroider on them.  It was nice to get some more done.  I now have to prep some more.  I have no idea how many I am going to do, I am doing them until I am sick of doing them.

I really have been wanting to quilt something on my frame.  I don't have a quilt ready to place on the frame so I finished this little wall hanging.  I just had  this st had to add the outside polka dot fabric.  The backing is all pressed and maybe one night this week if I am not too tired I will load it on the frame.  The only thing I know I want to do is small e shape into the valleys between the prairie points.  I am trying to think of some kind of design for each block.  Stuff to think about for another day.

Well it is that bewitching hour, time to go to bed since I work tomorrow.

Updates for Man Cave and Quilting

I am not sure where the time is going but it is going fast.  I have been busy reorganizing computer files and photos as well as drawers and stuff.  Not a lot at a time but just small amounts of time here and there.  It still takes a lot of time.  The goal is to empty the download folders when I finish name the pictures.  I emptied 60 folders of pictures I took during 2010.  Most folders had a few photos in them like about 6 or so.  So once I get the couple I want to upload to this blog post I am moving them into the correct folders.

I have also been busy catching up on my genealogy reading and trying to decide what classes I will be taking this Friday & Saturday at the Family History Expo here in Mesa.  I am a blogger of honor so I will be posting about the classes I attend and the thing I learn over on my Genealogy Blog.  It will be fun to meet some of the bloggers I have meet on-line in person.

My Moon Santa

I did manage to find some time for sewing on last Sunday, this just past Saturday and yesterday.  I quilted my Moon Santa and I have the binding almost finished, you can see where my binding clips are on the last side of the binding.  I did more quilting on this them on the one I gave as prize.  I free motion quilted around the word Believe and I did straight stitching across the piano key trim.  If you double click on the picture you should be able to see a larger version.  I like it.

Richard working at night

Richard has also been busy working on his man cave.  The inside is finished except for the painting.  He will wait to do that until it is all done.  He has started adding the frame on the out side for the siding.  Tonight was pretty mild so he decided to work on it this evening after work.  He has his big portable spotlight set up.  I even had to go out and help him hold that bottom board straight for him until he had it nailed down.

Happy Stitching!

Sewing with Heather

Heather joining the binding together

On Saturday the 8th my great niece Heather came over to learn how to apply a binding to a quilt.  She had made this quilt with a little help from an adult but did most of the work herself.  I started teaching her how to sew when she was 8.  Now she is 15.  I really hope she keeps her interest in quilting as she is a talented gal.

Here is her picture after her first sewing lesson with me in 2003.  I taught her bigger sister Amy how to sew also.  They were reminiscing about how Heather's first quilt was bigger than Amy's and Amy was so upset and Heather had told her that Aunt Mary love her more since she made the bigger quilt.  The truth from my point of view was Heather was a little more gutsy and was willing to keep going, so I let her.

Isn't she pretty!
She did a very good job on her quilt!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my blogging friends!

I have decided not to make any quilting goals this year, mainly because I still plan to focus a lot on Genealogy.  I do have some plans like finish a couple of projects I have in the works and to make a quilt for Kierra and her husband and to make Mr. B a new one.  He did request a new quilt.  I didn't finish all I had planed for 2010 but I am good with that.  What I was working on was more important.  Plus that stocking took a lot of time, but it was appreciated and that is all that matters.

Fall Table Topper
Today after taking the tree down, doing the grocery shopping and having dinner with Mr. B.  I was able to sit down and finish the binding on the Fall Table Topper I started it in October or November.  I really like the pattern and I would like to make it again.
I just remembered I do have one goal to make my give away quilt sooner!

Happy Stitching!
